Enrichment at St Michael’s

At St Michael’s, we are committed to providing every pupil with a rich and varied programme of extra-curricular opportunities. Our enrichment offer includes clubs, competitions, charity events, councils, trips and external opportunities designed to inspire, challenge and engage students beyond the classroom.

Our mission is to create opportunities for young people to grow in knowledge, skills and character, supporting both their academic progress and personal development.

Through enrichment, we aim to nurture character, resilience and confidence in all our pupils. The programme encourages compassion for cultural and community issues, while emphasising teamwork, responsibility and care for the world around us.

The aims of the programme are to:

Build upon the Academy’s trust virtues of confidence, resilience, justice, compassion, respect, self-belief, responsibility and honesty.

Bloom as individuals by developing character, resilience and confidence.

Participate fully in school life through clubs, competitions, leadership and community activities.

Aspire to achieve personal goals, broaden horizons and raise ambitions for the future.

Explore new skills, interests and opportunities that enrich learning and personal growth.

To ensure our enrichment offer reflects the interests of our pupils, we conduct termly surveys, monitor participation, and collaborate with Student Councils. As a result, our clubs and activities evolve each term to meet the needs and passions of our community.

At Key Stage 3, students are encouraged to explore, experiment and understand each of the Academy virtues in a supportive environment where they feel safe to make mistakes and grow in confidence.

By Key Stage 4, our students are expected to live out these virtues by taking on leadership roles, running events, and acting as role models for younger pupils—showcasing the character, resilience and responsibility that will prepare them for life beyond St Michael’s.
