At St. Michael’s Catholic Academy, we love to celebrate the hard work and achievements of our students and this week was no exception. As a special reward for their dedication during ELSA sessions, our students enjoyed a festive, hands-on activity that brought plenty of joy and creativity to the classroom.

Under the guidance of Mrs Richardson and Mrs Mitchell, students made beautiful Christmas candles and decorated delightful gingerbread houses. These creations were not only fun to make but also a wonderful way to mark the end of a successful term.

For those who may not know, ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) is an intervention strategy designed to help students build resilience, manage emotions, and break down barriers through positive social activities. These sessions provide a safe space for students to develop confidence and emotional well-being, skills that are essential both inside and outside the classroom.

The festive project was a perfect example of how ELSA combines creativity with emotional support, giving students the chance to express themselves while working together in a relaxed, enjoyable environment.

A huge well done to all our ELSA students for their hard work this term and thank you to Mrs Richardson and Mrs Mitchell for making this celebration so special!
