Last week, our academy community has come together to honour Holocaust Memorial Week, a time dedicated to remembering the millions of lives lost and reflecting on the importance of compassion, tolerance, and justice in today’s world.
Throughout the week, all students attended thought‑provoking assemblies led by Mr Hodgson, where they learned about the Holocaust and explored how its impact continues to shape the experiences of individuals, families, and communities across the globe. These assemblies encouraged our young people to think deeply, ask meaningful questions, and consider the vital role they play in building a kinder future.
Acts of Remembrance
As part of our commemoration, students laid stones at our Holocaust Memorial - a simple yet powerful gesture symbolising remembrance, respect, and the importance of never forgetting. This moment of quiet reflection allowed pupils to honour those who suffered and to recognise the lasting significance of standing up against prejudice and hatred.
A Community United
On Friday, we were honoured to welcome primary and secondary schools from across the local area to join us in a shared act of remembrance. Coming together in this way strengthened our collective commitment to challenging discrimination and promoting understanding within our wider community.
We Remember. We Reflect. We Commit.
Holocaust Memorial Week has reminded us of the responsibility we all share in shaping a world where empathy, respect, and equality are at the heart of our actions.
We remember.
We reflect.
We commit to building a better future.
