Raising Aspirations Beyond the Classroom
Year 9 students at St Michael’s Catholic Academy in Billingham were delighted to welcome the Cambridge University Outreach team for a special session linked to Modern Foreign Languages. The visit provided an inspiring opportunity for students to explore language learning beyond the classroom and discover the exciting pathways it can open up.
Exploring the Power of Languages
During the session, students gained a real insight into how languages are used in higher education and future careers. The outreach team shared their experiences, encouraged discussion, and helped pupils understand the wider value of language skills in today’s global world.
Motivated and Enthusiastic Learners
The impact of the session was clear, with students leaving motivated, engaged and full of enthusiasm. Experiences like this play a key role in helping young people see what is possible and encouraging them to aim high.
We are extremely grateful to the Cambridge University Outreach team for their time, support and commitment to raising aspirations for our students at St Michael’s Catholic Academy in Billingham.
