Students from St Michael’s Catholic Academy in Billingham have just returned from an unforgettable adventure in New York City - a trip packed with history, culture, iconic landmarks and memories that will last a lifetime.
The excitement began immediately with a visit to the world‑famous Statue of Liberty, where pupils explored the rich history behind this unforgettable symbol of hope and freedom.

Exploring the City’s Most Iconic Landmarks

The group continued their journey with a reflective stop at the National September 11 Memorial, followed by the breathtaking grandeur of Grand Central Terminal. From there, they stepped onto the legendary Brooklyn Bridge, taking in sweeping skyline views and buzzing New York energy at every turn.

Skyscrapers, City Lights and Unbeatable Views

One of the most unforgettable highlights was the climb to the top of the Empire State Building at sunset - the city glowing beneath them, the sky turning gold and pink, and a moment none of them will ever forget.

A Whirlwind of Excitement Across Manhattan

The adventures continued across the city as pupils visited:

  • The famous Ellen’s Stardust Diner, complete with singing waitstaff!

A Perfect Final Day in the Big Apple

Before heading home, the group spent a beautiful final day exploring Central Park and visiting the zoo. It was the perfect calm, scenic ending to an action‑packed adventure.

Home With Hearts Full of Memories

After landing back at Heathrow, the group travelled home to Billingham - tired, excited and full of incredible stories to share. This extraordinary trip gave students the chance to see the world, step into history and experience one of the most vibrant cities on Earth.
