Celebrating Our Bronze Award Recipients

St Michael’s Catholic Academy recently hosted a fantastic evening to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our 18 Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award recipients. Their determination, resilience and commitment shone brightly as each student was recognised for their journey through the award.

An Evening Filled With Inspiration

We were honoured to welcome Baroness Tanni Grey‑Thompson, whose inspiring words made the celebration even more memorable. We were also joined by the DofE Operations Manager and Regional Manager, further highlighting the significance of our students’ accomplishments.

The event was proudly hosted by Mrs Hunter, who paid tribute not only to the awards earned, but to the personal growth each young person achieved along the way.

Special Recognition for Exceptional Determination

A special congratulations goes to Tippi, who received the St Michael’s DofE Resilience Award for her outstanding perseverance during the expedition. Her determination beautifully embodies the spirit of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

A Journey of Service, Skill and Strength

To achieve their Bronze Award, students took part in a wide range of enriching activities:

  • Volunteering: Supporting elderly residents and assisting in the school library
  • Skills: Knitting, cooking, learning instruments and more
  • Physical: Gym training, walking, gymnastics and personal fitness goals

Each pupil stepped outside their comfort zone, discovering resilience, compassion and confidence along the way.

Looking Ahead With Excitement

We are so proud of every award recipient. Many students are already eager to begin their Silver Award, alongside our new Bronze cohort. We can’t wait to see where their next steps will take them.

Congratulations to all involved - a truly inspiring evening celebrating character, commitment and achievement.
